Where does Halifax rank on the gay-hostile (0)/gay-friendly (10) scale?
Thanks,
M.

While I've never been to Halifax or the Maritimes in general, I have a feeling that there's not a lot of representation from the Maritimes on this forum in general.
If I were to take a stab at the dark, I'd imagine that Halifax is not a gay-hostile environment, it's just not a gay-vibrant city in the same way that Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal are. Chances are, you'd be accepted by the large part of society there, and pretty much anywhere in Canada.

Be as tempted as you like, but you'd probably do better to consider that perhaps the 28 people who viewed your post simply don't have the answer to your question.
The Canada forum is exactly a thriving center of posting activity, and the odds are pretty good that a knowledgable Haligonian hasn't seen your question.

Out of curiosity, why is it "Haligonian" and not something like "Halifaxian"?

Just the way it is.......apparently sounds more pleasing to the ear.
Kind like "American" vs "United Statesian", I guess. LOL

Is there Gay life in Halifax
Hi there, I'm a Scottish guy who is coming over to work in the Halifax area after the Christmas Holidays. Hopefully there is a friendly gay scene even if it is a wee bit quieter than the big Canadian cities. I've checked out a few websites and they do say that Halifax has a gay quarter.

Halifax is gay friendly. It has a liberal bent to it partially due to the universities in the city. I would rank it an 8, easily.
