Why did your friend in Vancouver have to wait 3-4 months?

...and you have good insurance. How many in the US who may have the same medical issue end up paying more than your friend in Vancouver if not up front in insurance premiums?

How many have to check whether the doctor, specialist, hospital and treatment is covered fully by their plan?
How many have to fight with the insurer?

The point about the Canadian system is that none of the above happens. Wait times for non-urgent care in some areas is an issue and is being addressed.

Your story will not convince anyone in Canada that the US system is the way to go.

Why was there a wait time for non-urgent surgery? Please think carefully about the full reason before you answer.

I will not convince you that the US is the way to go because I do not believe it either. Do not switch topic.....here we were discussing access and quality of care, if you are insured the US does better indeed.

We are not discussing insurance premiums and coverage.

When you discuss " Access " you are discussing insurance.

Quality of care in Canada is extremely high. Look at health outcomes between the two countries. If you are well insured in the US you are still beholden you your insurance company. You are restricted to which doctors etc they will cover you for.

...but what's your point? You say you don't support the US system, but it certainly sounds like you are definitely trying to say that it's better than Canada by bringing up ONE personal story.

I think you know that if you listed pros and cons of the two systems, which one comes out ahead..you know the one..the one that beats the US in every study on healthcare systems worldwide.

No access does not mean just insurance...means equipment and structures (number of)

We do not work for Wall Street or large corporations....we can see any doctor we want. People that want to spend less are restricted by HMOs if they decide to do so

Shiny things. You're like a crow

More equipment does not equal better care. Here is one example.
