Why? how long do you have to wait if you wanted to make an appointment like right now for something?
What something?... If I got to my family Doctor I make an appointment.. Since he likes to gab to his patients even with an appointment I wait about 45 minutes. With that said, he's a damned good Doctor and so I put up with the 45 minute wait.. I just bring my phablet and play Airport Tycoon 3 while I wait.
If I need to go to a walk in clinic depends on time of year. High flu season and its about an hour to an hour and a half but it depends on clinic and location. Some you can get in within a half hour.
For more serious matters and you go to a hospital emergency they triage so wait time will vary depending on what's happening. We took my mother into Credit Valley Hospital with symptoms of a heart attack.. She got in within minutes. Yes she'll skip past people with a sprained finger i'm afraid.
My Father's cancer treatment from diagnosis to treatment was nothing short of brilliant. He had his bladder, surrounding lymph nodes and prostate removed due to metastatic stage IV cancer within a week after diagnosis and 2 weeks after initial complaint to family Doctor (who by his symptoms referred him to a Credit Valley Specialist immediately).. As soon as he had enough strength from his surgery he was getting chemo treatment from an Oncologolist..
But you don't want to pay thousands more in taxes per year for a "bright" shiny new hospital like the one in Palm Bay? He's also completely ignorant of the fact that most Americans don't live in Florida and do live in places where the hospitals are just as old as the ones in Canada. Try going to the hospitals in New York City, bub. Then tell us how bright and shiny they are, and how "quick" your service is, and how "they don't even ask for insurance."
The place seemed bright and shiny because Florida itself is bright and shiny (and humid). I'm sure his visit to the ATM and McDonalds would have seemed "bright and shiny" and "quick" compared to his home in Canada as well.

I think it depends on location and the very hospital itself.. Canada is a big place lol.. Even Toronto and the GTA is a big place.. Some hospitals are super old here like Toronto East General - I think they added a new wing not long ago so its a combination of old and new whereby a hospital like Credit Valley in Mississauga is relatively new with a very recent cancer unit addition. My father was treated at the Carlo Fidani cancer wing and it was nothing short of a beautiful facility.
This in contrast to this where my Grandmother was treated for cancer 20 years ago in the original building at Toronto East General so it really depends on where you go.

Its funny though, the first thing he always says is - oh sorry you had to wait i'm super busy today - so WHAT about those Jays eh or something like that lol..
Even so, not all US locations are equally alluring (or even if they were, they would not appeal to the same people). NYC, DC, Florida, California (and Boston to a lesser extent) seem to be admired in a completely different fashion from other locations such as Minneapolis, Detroit... There is one US location, however, that seems to be despised even then: Texas.
The US locations that were not off-limits to the undergrads I TAed to back in Quebec (NYC, DC, Boston, California; UF, FSU, UMiami, UCF, for some reason, all seem to be off-limits to that bunch of physics students for grad school) along with Florida, are perhaps the most idealized of the gang among Quebecers at large.
They may idealize taxation (although the picture is fairly complicated even with working-class revenue), weather, waiting times in hospitals as well as infrastructure. I wonder what's their relationship to American education though, beyond envying Ivies and their undergraduate peers... However, as you said, most Quebecer students that could actually achieve the objective of attending an Ivy League school or one of their peers would likely be drawn to equally prestigious European universities instead.
It's a minority but I have also heard Quebecers say they prefer travelling to the States because they don't feel judged there like they do in Anglo-Canada. Because of the historical politics some feel like Anglo-Canadians have preconceived notions about them (separatist, racist, xenophobic, insular, etc.) whereas in the U.S., they're just anonymous faces in the mass of foreigners and no one cares about Quebec-Canada politics.
I wager that minority would feel " judged " even if they weren't being judged. I know of no one from Quebec, that I personally have met, that has said they have felt " judged " when visiting B.C. Sounds a bit paranoid.
Your minority sounds very much like the minority here that have never been to Quebec and think it and the people are a certain way...until they actually visit and realize what a load of BS they've believed.
I've posted this before, but one of those that could fit into that minority was told by fellow Quebeckers ( who had NEVER been to BC ) that he would be spat on and would be unable to even get a job because people out west hated Quebeckers. It was a load of BS.
He came here, loved it, got a job within a week and personally told me that after his sojourn here that he was going back and set those xenophobic guys straight.
BC gets around only 15,000 visitors from Quebec every year, but that has more to do with distance and costs of getting here, than fear of being judged, and of course winter vacations ( unless you're an avid skier and have to get to Whistler ) are going to be in warmer locations.
In fact it's the folks in Florida that make jokes about overweight Quebeckers in too small swimming suits. I've never heard anyone in BC make any kind of joke towards a Quebecker.

Me as well. I'm four blocks from a major hospital. I'm surrounded by at least 10 or more walk-in clinics.
I am lucky and don't have to go to a clinic that often but I did last summer and waited 20 minutes to see a doctor.
In our walk-in clinics we see a doctor and not a " Nurse practitioner " . Is it the same in Ontario?
As for shiny and new,VGH has some beautiful newer pavilions, and St Paul's is moving to a brand new state of the art hospital in the next few years.

Vancouver is actually one of the most popular cities in the ROC, reputation-wise, in Quebec. It might be number one in fact. You rarely hear anything negative about it.

It must be much more than 15,000 visitors per year. There are 7 direct flights between Mtl and Van every day, plus tons of connecting flights between the 2 cities via Toronto or other cities. There must be about 1000 people travelling in each direction, every day.

I wonder how much of it is transit to another final destination (mostly Asian cities, but could also be to US West Coast as well) and how much of it is business travel.
