Ok, let's see how long this sub-forum can last without mentioning anything about the US (except posts by potential immigrants from the US, which is reasonable).

Let's wait and see. All the US sub-forums probably mention anything about Canada three times a year.

Bonjour185, the answers should be obvious.

- Everyone in the world knows America, no one really cares about anglo Canada. There are people in the world who actually think Canada is a US state or still a British colony. The most common knowledge about Canada is that it is very cold here.

- The Americans are always coming up with the latest trend, anglo Canadians are about 5-10 years behind in copying the Americans.

- As ModernRebel touched on, anglo Canada was founded by the defeated traitors who in one of the biggest twists of humiliation became entirely dependent on the rebels (the Americans) despite being propped up by the world superpower (Britain). The usurpation of anglo Canada by the US has to go down as one of history's most humiliating episodes, and America is too nonchalant to even care. I can say for certain that some of the obsession stems from frustrated anglos subconsciously fixating on restoring their honour.

- Anglo Canada was founded as an ultra-conservative rejection the radical American ideas of representative democracy and separation of church and state, now they accept these ideas without a second thought. Anglo Canada represents a failed vision of North America that was reduced to the northern fringes of the continent.

- The British pay attention to the Americans (the rebels) and not their loyal British North American subjects. That's bound to bring about some jealousy. Most British people don't even know the capital of Canada, and they don't really care either. This feeling of rejection by the mother country contributes to jealousy of the rebellious sibling that behaved badly but still gets mom's attention and accolades.

- The Americans are always coming up with the latest trend, anglo Canadians are about 5-10 years behind in the anglosphere.

- The USA is viewed by the world as the epitome of "cool" and anglo Canada is viewed as a wannabe, if it is viewed at all.

- A variety of climates that aren't dominated by winter mean that anglo Canadians look at how their life could be if they lived in a similar culture but with warmer weather. This is why so many of them fantasize about living in California or somewhere else.

- American men have a very easy time with anglo Canadian women. The "cool" factor comes into play here. Anglo Canadian men want to claim their women but feel usurped by their more popular brothers to the south. This leads to fixation on the US and a case of schadenfreude when something bad happens in the US ("9/11? They had it coming")!

- American men are more masculine than anglo Canadian men, and this leads to insecurity and the desire to look at what they are doing.

Well gee, now I'm living in a country founded by two defeated nations with an inferiority complex, who were both rejected by their mother countries. It's all starting to make sense.

Feel better now you've given Canadian Anglos a good bashing?

As another poster surmised; I believe PB has shown us his life in a "twilight zone" minute of clinical introspection.
