Its been covered ad infinitum from Bobby Bare to Johnny Cash to Waylon Jennings and of course Neil Young which is the version I like the best, better than the original IMO in large part for Nicolette Larson's harmony vocals.
Neil has enough great songs in his repertoire that he doesn't *need* to do any covers. That he does this one speaks volumes.

This was my first introduction to French rap. This song definitely reminds me of Montreal. For those of you that love Montreal, even if you don't like rap you might like this video. It has some great shots of Montreal.
Another song that makes me think of many parts of Canada. in particular that stretch of highway 401 from Trenton to Toronto named Highway of Heros. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ckfXr1EHO9U
But Canada unlike Quebec has no culture of its own....remember ?
.
Music, especially popular music, is kind of an exception to the general rule. Or at least, it's the exception in that there is greater public pick-up of it than for other cultural stuff. Canadian incarnations of most anything do exist, it's just that most Canadians don't pay much attention to them.
That song is the Canadian version of God Bless the USA by Lee Greenwood.
I thought that to be common knowledge and not in need of further elaboration.
