This has been a very interesting thread. I assume most of it was about some kind of pre tax savings plan?

I suggest the Canadian Government buy up as may oil leases as possible while the prices are really low. They will be a lot more valuable in the future.

Why is Bombardier in trouble? They seem to be in a lot of markets.

They've been having a hell of a time getting their C series jet to market, mismanagement, delays, and ultimately because of that, finding buyers.

The provincial governments are the ones that sold the leases in the first place. Natural resources belong to the Constitution not the land owner so the provinces sells the lease and then charges royalties on production.

I see the Trudeau government already has a scandal with Flushgate

I thought Craptacular would be a better name. Ending scandals with -gate is getting old.

Canada will decide what is best for Canada and I respect that, but I do not think the US is the "war-monger" you suggest it is because of its campaign against the Islamic State. ISIS is the scourge of the earth, they ARE warmongers, in fact they are evil. Have you not seen what they are doing to innocent people?? Beheadings, burning people alive, crucifying people, impaling people, mass rapes etc. Need I go on?? Any nation that commits its armed forces to defeat those people is doing a service to world peace and civilization. Some respectable plan to quickly eliminate ISIS needs to be developed by all nations involved in the ISIS conflict. With all the powerful nations contributing to the effort against ISIS we should be able to put the hammer down on them and bring them to a quick end. We can negotiate with Assad and the rebels fighting him but ISIS should be annihilated. There is no place in a civilized place for the likes of ISIS.

Nitpick: Natural resources belong to the provinces, as mandated by the constitution. Just a typo, I'm sure, but I had to clear it up.

Well, technically, according to treaties that our government has never honoured, all natural resources in the earth deeper than a plough can go belong to the indigenous people of that land... ie coal in Nova Scotia should belong to the Mi'kmaq, the oil in the oil sands should belong to the Cree (it's Cree over there, right?).

Yeah I can picture this.

"Hey, we have an issue. Should we send in the troops?"

"Nah, I got this." *jumps off a plane with a knife in his teeth into enemy territory*

Not being a Constitutional or Treaty scholar, I would still posit that it depends on the treaty.
