Interesting statistic:
Illegal smuggling over the Canada-U.S. border is the source of untold thousands of firearms floating around the country. The U.S. is the source of anywhere from 70 to 99 per cent of the guns — mostly handguns — used in the commission of crimes here, depending on the municipality where the crimes are committed.I

The western world really needs to reevaluate it's relationship with China.

It's too late for that now. China has the second largest economy in the world and is a major trading partner for a lot of western countries.

So we have to put up with their bullying?

If you're talking about Canada specifically, then I'm not sure what it can do. America is really the only country that can stand up to China, but their economy is also heavily intertwined with the Chinese one at this point.

I knew he wouldn’t follow through - Andrew Scheer is keeping his American citizenship: https://www.ctvnews.ca/politics/sche...ship-1.4941780
Quote:
In an interview on CTV's Question Period with Evan Solomon, Scheer said that after deciding to step down as leader, he halted the process. During the fall federal election campaign, Scheer confirmed that he had dual Canadian-U.S. citizenship after it was first reported by The Globe and Mail, saying he was in the process of renouncing his American citizenship.
The Globe and Mail had only reported the dual citizenship in early October. Scheer’s spokesman had responded:
Quote:
Scheer started the process of renouncing his citizenship in August, before the federal election campaign started, and the paperwork is now being processed by the U.S. government.
In November, after the election Global News reported:
Quote:
Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer doesn’t appear on a list of ex-U.S. citizens published last week. The omission raises questions about whether Scheer has actually taken irreversible steps to get rid of his U.S. citizenship or just discussed the issue with U.S. consular officials.
https://globalnews.ca/news/6188221/a...r-us-citizens/

So now it is confirmed Scheer NEVER took such irreversible steps.

It is beyond me why someone who is not fully committed to this country would try to become Prime Minister.

No surprise. He was shifty from the word go. He refused, and didn't have the intelligence to answer difficult questions, or to even see how refusing to answer would look to Canadians.

Grateful he is not PM.

Has anyone noticed Gun crime, especially in Toronto, has gone up significantly after the gun ban?
Maybe it's just because we're loosening restrictions, but there seem to have been a spike within the 2 weeks or so.

NO, no one noticed that, except those for whatever reason, who would attempt to link firearms related incidents to a recent addition of a particular style of firearm to a list of already restricted firearms.

Has anyone noticed, considering handgun restrictions have been in place for decades, firearms related cases, especially handgun related incidents have been steadily increasing after a long period of decline since long before any recent ban went into the news?

Any more recent uptick can be attributed to any number of things - like a pandemic for example, creating a whole different environment for criminal behaviour.
