Do you mean monthly or annually? If you mean monthly then you are correct. If you mean annually as Fish and Chips said, then Fish and Chips is correct, it is millions of visitors from other countries besides USA.

I understood the OP's point but I think the OP is being a bit short-sighted.

The thing is that lots of Americans and travellers from every other country in the world never think about travelling to Canada but do travel to many other places ...... and probably all for basically the same reasons.

My point is - so what of it? Why care about why those travellers prefer to visit other places? It's not as if they're deliberately trying to snub Canada or that they're putting their own noses out of joint by avoiding Canada. They just want to visit other places for their own reasons and don't think about Canada.

I'm totally cool with that and don't care about their wherefores and whyfores for not coming to Canada, even if their reasons are because of incorrect beliefs or misinformation. Canada still gets plenty of other curious, well-heeled, well-informed and adventurous visitors from both America and other countries and there are more and more visitors coming every year. It's all good.

No, and for some reason I had 'monthly' in my head as I typed I reply, even though 'annually' was specifically mentioned. This is not a good start to my Labor Day weekend.

Yes it's all good I'm just explaining why those people who don't travel to , or think of travelling to Canada mindset can be.

It's not just Americans, I have posted many times on CD about some Dutch and English people I met while travelling who gave basically the exact reasons for not coming here. Winter all year, nothing but lakes and log cabins, having to fish for food LOL...and once I educated them, they came and realize how silly their ideas about Canada were.

Not really, no.

Travellers to Canada by country of origin, top 15 countries of origin (2013)

Americans took 11.5 million trips to the US while the next top 14 took 3.2 million combined, Americans spent as many nights in Canada as the next top 7 countries combined, and Americans spent $900 million more in Canada than the next top 14 countries combined. Sorry this pains one or two posters so much, but Canadian tourism would be in a big hole without the Americans.

Or not ... do people in the US think that sulphur off-gassing is nature?

Of course the US has more biodiversity ... alligators, snakes, scorpions, mosquitos with Zika virus ... that's not what I mean when I mention wildlife.

The most enormous mountains in North America are the Rocky Mountains, the oldest similar mountains are in Switzerland. Comparatively, the US has hills. What is in the US ? ... a volcano near Seattle?

Rivers in the US would be dry were it not for the generosity of Canada. The US has dead lakes and when flying, it's obvious when someone crosses into Canada because the lakes are blue/green ... in a healthy way.

The US can keep their bugs and reptile diversity.
Cockroaches and rats are not a Canadian story, but they are a US/Mexico story.
Are you trying to claim there are no rats, cockroaches, snakes, and mosquitoes in Canada? LOL. Are you for real?

That's insane!
Canadians are nothing like people in the US.
Obviously Canadians are not politicking about building a wall with the people to the South, but the US people are parading with contradiction about (they are, are not) building the wall with the Mexican. That's 100%US ... Canadians are not like that, eh.

Canada will build the wall to protect against the country to the South and the country to the South will pay for it!
So you're one of those ignorant non-Americans who think we're all rallying behind Trump?

A stat that would be interesting to see is how many of the US visitors to Canada are repeat visits, and how many international visitors are first time visitors.

So over a period of ten years, you could calculate how many NEW visitors come from other countries besides the US.

I don't have time now, but I'll see if I can find it.

I don't think anyone I know underestimates how important the tourism from the US to Canada is. It has an impact when your dollar falls and vice versa.

Border towns in the US now are feeling the pinch of fewer Canadians visiting, and many people, myself included are not doing our winter vacation in the US because of the dollar.

It's impact isn't as great as US visitors not coming to Canada on a whole, but locally for some of these smaller border towns that rely on Canadians shopping there are suffering.

Nope. Just saying that in addition to bugs, Canada has diverse wildlife.

I find the biggest difference between Canada and other countries, including those to the South, is the people. It's my humble opinion that people from the US have a value system that is distinctly different from Canadians - not surprising given the distinctly different legal system.
