I know it doesn't make sense and that many will think my way of thinking is irrational.

I think of my late father, though, and others who fought during our past wars and those who will fight in the wars to come - that day is for them, not for an old guy who croaked on the 7th of November.

I'll always be offended by his family's decision, so perhaps we can agree to disagree about the subject.

I won't post anymore about it. I promise, even if you respond.

I kick myself for passing on the opportunity to speak with him around 30 years ago. I had to do a paper on a Canadian poet and picked Archibald Lampman. Shortly afterward I ran into a family friend originating from Montreal who said "why did you pick him? I could get Leo Cohen on the phone for an interview"

I gave my wife his greatest hits CD and played it for her. Once. She's one person not mourning his loss.

I first heard of him on an old TV show where they played "Everybody Knows" as an episode theme. it did not take me long to buy a few CD's. Fortunately there are CD's.
