Victoria Island is a massive island in the Arctic Ocean.

If you're talking about Vancouver Island on the west coast of British Columbia, than yes, it's dog friendly.

It too, however, is a massive island.

We're talking about an island that takes 8 hours to drive from the north end to the south end, and island with cities, towns, suburbia, strip malls, national parks, beaches, forests, mountains, lakes, fishing villages, forestry camps, etc.

Some places (like beaches or city parks) will be dog friendly.
Some places (like hotels or nature preserves) will not be dog friendly.

You'll have to be a bit more specific.

I would have just said no. The polar bears like dogs. Plus, foreign dogs make the dogs on our sleds nervous. Trust me when I say you don't want to be in the igloo in the middle of a dogfight.

Thank you for pointing out my ignorance and providing the nice map. I was refering to the city of Victoria on Vancouver Island. I was interested if there are rual places to go or parks that welcome dogs and if they are tolerated (if well behaved) in the more urban areas.

Yes, there are many dog owners in Victoria and well behaved dogs are welcomed on many beaches and in many parks. There is even a designated off leash play area for them in Beacon Hill Park.
