Problem is, we don't know anyone in BC so we can't really ask a friend for a recommendation. We need someone with experience working with overseas buyers to make sure they are familiar with all applicable laws and nuances that come with being a non-resident purchasing foreign property (if any...). I know there are tighter restrictions for purchasing in Vancouver but we aren't looking there...more between the Golden to Nelson areas.
Does anyone have any recommendations they could give us? Thanks in advance!!

There is no reason to make this decision/process more complicated or difficult than it needs to be.
Both of the cities mentioned will have a tourism centric home page easily found through Google and within those pages or sites will be a link to "real estate" which in turn will have multiple interactive sites for all the regional offices of the major companies like Re-Max etc.,
Interacting with any number of the local agents would be as easy as clicking on any of the properties listed for viewing and contacting the agent of record through those sites. The only caution needed is the usual one of not signing any "contract of representation". That is totally unnecessary to get initial information about a property of interest via the MLS service through any agent shown.
Use your due diligence as regards accepting statements of claim until you've actually viewed the properties and engage the services of a local lawyer's office that will have a realty specialist to have title searches and closing requirements fulfilled to your satisfaction and legal compliance protections.
