I can guarantee you that you average Americans has no desire whatsoever to move to Canada (it makes no sense, unless we are talking a specific situation, company transfer/job offer, family reasons, etc...) actually I'm ready to bet that far a higher percentage of Canadians wants to move in the US and not the other way around....and the Americans that wish to move for the freebies (not that many freebies, Canada ain't Europe or Australia) are usually people that cannot make it here as well.
I've been to Canada a few times. Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary all have a very different vibe from their US counterparts.
I find the people in general not that friendly, not rude but a little boring and lack charisma. Polite but not at all charming. Those in Vancouver need to get off their high horse & get a reality check!
The news reporting is so boring. I have never heard such monotonous news anchors in my entire life!
I know Canadians feel smug that their country is not hit with problems that other countries deal with, yes I think it is far safer than most other parts of the world, but I'm just saying I dont find the country particularly 'charming'
(Also I have even been to the Canada Maritimes and found it an extremely backwards and close-minded absolutely boring place)
And considering it was coming from a Canadian, I thought it was pretty impressive.
Not a bad article at all. What it was basically saying is that Canada is one of the most stable places in the world. I don't think you would get many (if any) disagreements that stability is preferable to the excitement of being a chicken crossing the road in Yemen.
Isn't Facebook moving offices to Waterfront Centre on Burrard Street in downtown Vancouver. Amazon is opening a second office here in Vancouver that will double its current work force. Ah well, I have to admit that on some days I did wake up craving for Trump's tweets.
It is not just our universal healthcare that is attractive. I am seeing constant streams of foreign visitors (including tourists) having their dental cosmetic procedures and laser eye/cataract surgeries done here at our private clinics in Metro-Vancouver, because they pay more than twice back at their home countries.
I find many American cities boring (including the one I grew up in that begins with a "B" and ends with an "n" - must have stayed there too long lol.) and I find many Americans boring. That's life however so to get excitement I visit the country to the north of the U.S. to get a different perspective.

And the author subtly said that Americans' claim of boredom was a self defense mechanism because they are unable to even match, let alone surpass, Canada's stability. Heh heh.
Well, take another socialist country like Singapore, which boast #2 ranking in World’s Health Systems. An eye laser surgery will cost $3,200 (standard), $4,400 (topography), or $5,658 (advanced). On top of that, one has to pay $100 to the clinic for first consultation, plus $160 for general eye screening and/or $321 for premium eye screening. And post-surgery reviews are not free either.
Now look at our "Honest & Goodness" Canadian system, one simple price of ($1040 x 2) for basic laser surgery. For those above 40 years old, the price is a bit higher but still less than $3000. https://www.boydvision.ca/how-much-d...-surgery-cost/
Now let's get back to this World's #2 health system, a private cataract surgery, PER EYE, can cost up to $10,000. Both eyes would cost $20K.
The exchange rate is C$1 = 0.94, so not that significant imo. https://imgur.com/a/45g1I
