You listen to much media. Your chances of being stabbed or shot in New Orleans are probably the same as being hit by lightning 3 times in a single day. New Orleans gets 20 million tourists a year, while Montreal got 11 million in its best year.
Rio de Janeiro gets probably three times the number of tourists from New Orleans, but it's hardly a safe city.
What is the matter with you? It is only dangerous in your simple mind, because the odds of something bad happening are so low! Also, you are a total joke about how many tourists Rio gets. They got 1.25 million international tourists in 2019. Now how many did they get from Brazil itself to total the 20 million tourist New Orleans gets, let alone 3 times as much as you claim? Where is the 3 times as much as New Orleans, show me!
You are talking about 193 homicides, when 800,000 people died of covid in the USA. Now figure 193 people, and 20 million tourists! Most of those 193 homicides are between people that knew each other. I will continue to travel to the great city of New Orleans and feel perfectly safe. You can be the big loser and be left out of one of the world's most fun cities!
Most homicides around the world are between people that knew each other, but the possibility of being a victim in New Orleans is higher than most American cities, let alone Canadian ones.
I think I'd take a visit to Montreal over New Orleans any day. Montreal sounds more civilized. I've never been to New Orleans but have heard plenty of stories from friends who have visited there. New Orleans' Bourbon St. area sounds like its a raucous dream destination for rowdy alcoholics and defective party animals wanting a gathering place to all congregate 24/7 and be vomitous together. A place that encourages people like that to go there would be a nightmare for me.

I didn't expect to like New Orleans for all the reasons Zoiste listed. I'm not a party animal. But I absolutely loved it years ago when I was there and yes, I knew it was a dangerous city and I heard racist things that made my toes curl. In spite of all that, I just loved it and would go back again in a heartbeat.
