Canada is known for being a well-educated country, even fairly small cities tend to have a student population. This got me wondering: Excluding bedroom communities and commuter towns close to bigger centres, what's the largest Canadian city without a post-secondary institution?
What jumps out from that map is Saint John, NB. Do they really not have a college? They must at least have a community college. Does that count for the purpose of this question?
What about Glace Bay (pop 19000)? Doesn't look like there's one around there.
There is one in Sydney (Cape Breton U) which is right next to Glace Bay. Actually they are part of the same municipality now (Cape Breton RM) but both used to be distinct cities.
Then you need to go quite lower in the list of cities... Magog (pop: 26K), maybe? But Sherbrooke isn't far, so I don't know if it really counts.
