Eh, not a heartbreak. The game was close, could have gone either way. It wasn't actually that great a game, there was a lack of flow. The US couldn't take advantage of all the head scratching penalties that were called when some egregious other stuff was ignored. The teams were physical and shut each other down quite a bit, which led to some choppy play.

Shootouts are a pox on competition. It's not a beer league game where the rink needs to get the next pair of teams out on the ice, or one of 82 games in the NHL season and they need to get games over with so they can travel to the next one.

I play beer league hockey as a goalie, and my team won a shootout in the playoffs last week. I celebrated the win, while acknowledging to people I know on the other team that it's a stupid way to decide a close game.

Love Scott Moir in the stands, though, he was hilarious.

The shootout, in my opinion, is one of the -- if not THE -- worst things that were done to the game.

While it's fun to watch in the All-Star Skills Competition, it's awful in an actual game.

The worst was having to watch the US homer broadcast while cheering for the losing team.
