^^My surname is unusual among Mennonites and the earliest record of it dates to sometime in the 16 century in France. A lot of Huguenots ended up in the Netherlands.
"How is it that Acadians ... than people in Quebec?" because they WANT to.
accents and names can be changed.
It's not really because they "want" to. This makes it sound like Acadians are being fussy or deliberately making themselves sound different in order to be "special".
They speak the way do, because that's the way they speak. That's all.
As for why that difference is there in the first place and has subsisted over hundreds of years, I have explained in other posts.
This thread has a very specific reference to "accents" but when one delves into the history of France you find all sorts of things that serve to explain why French are present in many areas of the world: https://www.huguenotsociety.org.uk/history.html
One can only imagine how dialects would evolve from the movement of people through generations.
My wife's heritage includes a "Valance" lineage that was claimed to have been driven from France as Huguenots. They found themselves in what is now Scotland. The surname traces back to "a place on the confines of Poitou", in France.
My Mother recently did an ancestry dna test. It came back that she is 20% of French ancestry. When I first saw her results I had my doubts, but she did some investigation and sure enough on her Mothers side there is some one with a French last name. 20% might not be a lot but it was a real surprise for us being from where we are from.

AND; the planet is only getting smaller in terms of it's population being interconnected through generations of migration.
Sorta takes the steam out of those showing up on here from time to time claiming to be of some special pedigree, wouldn't you agree?

Mmmyeah. Sorta.
Culture, which is not about bloodlines but rather something that is acquired, is most definitely a real thing.
In spite of how often and easily it is dismissed these days.
