My girlfriend's lives in the USA. Her employer is in Toronto and they are talking about buying her a company car and registering it in Canada. She would then drive it home to SC. Are there problems crossing the border with a car you don't own? Would she need to register it in SC eventually? Thank you

As long as it's insured properly, there's no issue. She won't have to do anything as long as the company maintains ownership. If it's her car, it needs to be imported.

Because the car is driven long haul back and forth frequently you will need a valid D/L in both countries or better yet an international drivers permit (IDP). In Canada you can get these at CAA for about $25.00 if you already have a Canadian drivers license.

Check out the road trips forum on tripadvisor.ca . Lots of information there with different scenarios.

Not true, unfortunately. You can't hold two driver's licenses. You need the one where your residence is. Also, no need for an IDP as all US States and Canadian Provinces recognize each other's driver's license as valid.
