As I seem to have come down with the flu and not a cold, I can tell you guys it's awful. It is the A strain that's around this year. I was fine Tuesday until early evening and sicker than a dog by midnight. Chills, then hot, dry cough, stuffy nose, hard to breathe, hit by a truck feeling, headache and it's still going on. Not sure if the flu shot is available already but if it is, I highly recommend you get it. I always do, just not this early.

Yes it's early this year. A friend of mine already got it as well. Like you, she said it was awful.

Hope you get back to your old self.

Make some chicken soup! It helps boost the immune system. I hope you get well soon.

I try to get amy flu shot every year.

In Ontario it is free....I get my shot at the drug store.

Definitely do not want to get the flu.

I remember back in 2009 and that H1N1 scare....there was line ups to get the shot.

Make sure to rub some garlic on all over your body and drink some garlic tea. That will clear things right up.

In BC it's free for most people, not all though. You can get one for free even if you just say you visit a senior care home.

Maybe this flu season isn't as bad as I thought it was. Turns out I have pneumonia, not the flu.

I don't know if that's better or worse. Pneumonia can be just as life-threatening as flu, especially when one is getting on in years. And it can hang on and on (ever heard of walking pneumonia?) or recur over and over again. So please pamper yourself to your utmost ability and get well soon.

I've never had a flu shot before, and I can't get a flu shot now even if I want to because I already have to take other meds that compromise and lower my immune system and that puts me at risk of having an adverse reaction to flu shots or other immunizations. Doctors have advised me that from autumn to spring I need to avoid going to places around crowds or in enclosed homes with other people who may have recently gotten flu shots or other immunizations themselves or are already sick with colds, flu, etc. I had to avoid people all last winter too for the same reason but I still ended up getting "something" like the flu or pneumonia anyway right after Christmas because of relatives and their kids who came to visit me and it turned out the kids all had "something" that I got from them. Man, was I sick.
