Pancake flat as it was the sea bed of the former Champlain Sea, created after the
glaciers retreated at the end of the last ice age. The last remnant of which is
Lake Champlain in VT, NY with a small northern section in Quebec.
The hill you see in the background is one of the “Monteregion Hills”....
there are about ten of them, stretching from Oka in the west to Mont Megantic in the east,
near the border with New Hampshire and Maine.
They are igneous (volcanic) in origin, in sharp contrast to the sedimentary lowlands.
Most famous of them is Mont Royal in Montreal at 765 ft.
Some have ski areas on them like Mont Saint Bruno and Mont Shefford (now defunct).
The video probably is in the Mont Ste. Hilaire area, or possibly Mont Yamaska area.
Tallest by far and farthest east is Mont Megantic at 3,625 ft.
It is a provincial park and has an observatory near the summit.
Yep. I grew up in Monteregie's farmlands (although more directly South of MTL, "Jardins du Quebec" area) and this is definitely it.
