The cost varies but is rather similar to eating at a (non-fast food) family restaurant, maybe a couple bucks more. For regular sugar shacks it’s around CAD25 per adult and CAD15 per kid. Except for the few high-end places that have popped up, you go for the experience not the food.

Have there been anymore issues around people getting kicked out of the dining rooms so people can do their afternoon prayers?

I can’t imagine devout Muslims would eat at one since they serve pork.

If you asked for ”tarte a la mode” in a Quebec restaurant, would the server know what you meant?

Probably not. I had to Google it and I am still not sure what it is. It sounds like some old expression that fell out of use.
