I'm sorry if I posted in the wrong section of the forum, but Erza Levant of Rebel News is in hot water, interrogated by the RCMP because he wrote a book about Justin Trudeau and his friends titled "The Libranos" as a nod to the Sopranos.

Quote:
Rebel News founder Ezra Levant is under investigation and was interrogated by former members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, that specialized in terrorism cases, over his best-selling book on Justin Trudeau’s corruption.
The officers, Paul Couture and Timothy Mackin, who are now under contract as investigators with the Commissioner of Canada Elections, didn’t know it at the time, but Levant filmed the entire interrogation, which took place at the high security headquarters of Elections Canada in Ottawa.

Orwell said it best: “In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act”.

Canada is in a time of universal deceit.

Horse hockey.

He is in trouble because he may have violated the Canada Elections Act. He was promoting his book with lawn signs DURING the federal election, without filing the paperwork to register as a third party advertiser.

This is not the first time he has run into issues during the election. The Alberta election commissioner also had issues with him.

So trying to paint this as a federal government IE Trudeau going after him is false. Elections Canada is a non-partisan organization, as is Alberta's.

Something, that the US could possible use since it keeps thugs like Levant in line with the law.

There's enough stupid Trump level populism and BS in the rest of the forum. Why are you guys trying to make it a thing here?

Exactly.

The OP's attempt at Trump style rearrangement of the truth, by suggesting that this was about stopping a book about Trudeau, or at least payback is simply absurd and will not fly here.

Canada, like most of the western world these days, is in the throes of a debate that aims to redefine what's acceptable to say and what isn't, and when.

As such, free speech isn't under threat in Canada any more than it is in any other country, and this definitely includes the USA.
