74 deaths out of 77 million people are great odds. 0.0001%.
Indeed. Unless one attaches enormous importance to the uncertainty of long-term effects of vaccines, the best decision from a personal health standpoint (not to mention getting "back to normal" as a society) is to take the vaccine.

Is it possible there are unknown long term effects? Sure. Is it likely? Doubtful. That’s the advantage of having a very targeted approach on a piece of spike protein.
We probably get worse longer-term effects by eating processed meats.
With its restrictions this was bound to happen. But now the US has largely returned to normal while Canada is in the midst of a terrible 3rd wave.
I’ve been looking at the statistics on the Worldometers web site on a daily basis for over a year. Currently there are still a lot more daily deaths in the U.S. vs. Canada than can be accounted for by the population difference. For example:
THURSDAY
United States - 922
Canada - 55
FRIDAY
United States - 887
Canada - 41
The price of returning to normal too soon I guess.
Keep in mind though, that the US's best, is worse, than Canada's worst, so far.
Most Canadians would not consider the numbers in the US an indication to get back to normal, just quite yet.
Fair point, but in addition to physical health issues you also need to consider mental and economic health.
By all accounts Canada should benefit from Biden’s massive stimulus package, but I was surprised to see that when you look at debt as a % of GDP Canada is second only to Japan worldwide for leading economies. There’s a real danger if Trudeau can’t get everyone back to “normal” (whatever that is) in short order.

My priorities during this pandemic, are physical health first, mental health second, economic health last.
All are important and it is a balancing act, but what good is economic health or mental health if you are dead, or severely compromised by this virus?
