After a year working remotely in Tokyo daughter has bought a May 8 ticket back to Canada, her plans are to isolate herself in Vancouver with her sister for about a month before returning to Montreal.Any unforeseen problems she will face on her return or restrictions she should know about?

As of March 25, the Govt of BC requires 14 days self-isolation. She will have to submit a self-isolation plan to the Govt for review before she will be allowed to return. She can find information on the BC CDC website in the Covid19 subsections for travel and for self isolation. For info on how to submit the plan, she can go to gov.bc.ca/returningtravellers

I found it easiest to go to the BCCDC site and use the link there to the govt site

I imagine that there may well still be some restrictions with respect to travel between provinces in June but she can figure that out when she is here.

Shes way ahead of me and has filled out required forms, it will be comforting to have her back home in Canada even though we wont meet till this plague has been tamed.

I believe if your daughter is quarantined with her sister, who is not under such restrictions and can still go out for essentials, that the guidance requires they be isolated from one another within the household for 14 days. So she has to stay in her room and ideally use a bathroom the sister isn't using during this period, so as not to infect her sister who can then leave and spread it to others.

Thats going to be impossible in a small apartment, theres no problem with them both isolating together as the one in Vancouver is happy to never go out.

Jambo; it is my sincere hope for your daughter to arrive safely back in Canada. Once here, she and her sister will handle whatever restrictions are placed upon their movements for the required time with relative ease.

The further trip east will present some challenge but as along as she is diligent in her research before setting out she should do fine.

You will of course worry until you can set eyes upon her. - that is in your job description. Take heart Jambo.

^^ what Bru said.

I'm so glad for you and your wife (and her sister) that she's coming home.

Jambo, does she already have a home of her own to go to in Montreal or will she have to stay with you and your wife for awhile after she returns to Montreal?

I'm wondering if she'll have to quarantine herself a second time round again once she returns to Montreal?

It would probably be wise in any case after being on the road or in a plane.

AND given Jambo's mentioning of health issues, without knowing if they make him susceptible with higher risk or not, that might be a complicating factor at the Montreal end of her exodus ….. ?

Here's hoping it all works itself out to their mutual well being.

A bit of humour: it brings to mind a possible Rowan Atkinson sketch of charging up one's I-pad for entertainment and then putting oneself out on the front porch in a large box with a supply of munchies and wearing a double pack of depends for UPS Overnight freight pick-up.
