The search for someone to replace Alex Trebek as “Jeopardy!” host has hit a snag.

Can another amiable and erudite Canadian can replace him?

I'd chose someone unknown and cheap to employ. It's not like there is anything special about that job that makes it impossible for anyone else to do it.

Yes, Alex is irreplaceable. Nobody else, Canadian or not, can even partially fill his impeccable shoes and the show Jeopardy as we knew it with Alex at the helm should die with Alex. If the producers of Jeopardy want to continue with it they should change the show and its format and employ an unknown, intelligent, amiable and erudite host who won't be bringing any garbage baggage with him.

And contrary to some of the comments that followed in that article, Alex was an extremely intelligent and well informed man who did have input, decision making and right of approval with regard to the questions that he asked on the show. Many of the questions that were asked were questions that Alex came up with and presented to the producers for them to select from. Likewise with some of the contestants that were chosen.

Because of “Reason’s” libertarian philosophy, especially that free speech is sacred, commenters deliberately post offensive things for no other reason than they can.

Yes... I do think Alex is tied to the game in all of our memories for now.

I think it might be time to just pull the game for awhile. Bring it back in five years with someone new.

On the contrary, lots of institutions die when their patriarch or founder leaves. Especially in entertainment.
