A three week span of unusually high temperatures between 31C (88F), days of 37C (99F) and reaching humidex 42C (108F). Now we have two days of below seasonal average of 16C (60F). Relatively speaking that's downright cold. That's Alberta for ya. Wait five more minutes and there'll be snow in July. So far this has been an awesome summer. I like hot. AND Alberta has lifted all covid restrictions as of July 1.
All the wildfire smoke from BC, Saskatchewan, and Montana is being windswept to Edmonton so thick I cannot see downtown or the river from my 11th floor apt that is situated on the bank or the river in downtown area. Never seen it this bad. It is worse smoke than the Fort McMurray fire that floated over Edmonton back 5 years ago. People are staying indoors because it is harder to breath outside.
The heat has killed crops. Some are harvesting now, their crops are only good for livestock feed now.
I wouldn't be too keen on up-and-down summer weather like that.
I prefer summer temperatures to be steady between the mid-20s and the lower 30s.
It's a nice 29C here right now.
