BREAKING: @ONtransport tells @CP24 & @CTVNews they've suspended 12 Ontario large (transport) truck licenses, and issued 27 seizure orders against out-of-province truck operators related to the Ottawa protest blockades. This effectively puts them out of business.
Quote:
They've also ordered the suspension of 24 Ontario passenger vehicle license plates, and 34 out-of-province passenger vehicle plates.
Quote:
I'm also awaiting a response re: the parameters of these suspensions in terms of length, if the could face full revocation, when they were applied, and if drivers & companies will be subject to conditions upon their return.
Cracked up at one of the usual suspects today telling me he has the REAL story about what happened in Ottawa because he saw YouTube videos while I am just going by what's being shown on CBC.
OH EM GEE DOUBLE EXCLAMATION POINTS!!
You learned the truth on YOU TUBE???!!! My bad.
There is no answer to that.
Problem is, that the usual suspects are now so afraid/wary/suspect of Canada's mainstream media, that they believe the only "true" news about the convoy comes from what they call "independent video journalists." To those of us who inhabit reality, that means, when translated, "any idiot with a cellphone camera and a YouTube account, who tells the story that I want to hear."
Real "independent video journalists" would be looking to sell their footage to recognized media. You know, real journalists do their job to earn money, even freelancers; and selling their footage is a great way to do it. A real "independent video journalist" wouldn't be giving their footage away for free on YouTube or Facebook or Twitter.

Exactly. My favorite is the one who kept going on and on about how CBC was only showing the "Trudeau's side" of what was going on in Ottawa. I said I was watching CBC and saw a lot and heard a lot of different views of the protest as well as government officials critical of the way Trudeau was handling things.. Was she sure she was watching the same CBC I was?
She replied, "No! I would never watch an MSM station like CBC!"

With all due respect you don't have any idea how it works. You should probably try watching some of them before you knock them. I don't know about Facebook or Twitter, but independent video journalists on YouTube do earn money. In the form of donations through Super Chats during live streams, ad revenue from the videos shown on their channels, as well as a number of other revenue streams. Occasionally they also do sell their video to mainstream media, which you then watch clips of on your TV news. I have been subscribed to some news streamers on YouTube for as long as 10 years, and they keep buying new and better equipment. Either they are robbing a lot of banks to support their YouTube hobby or they are making good money on YouTube.
Pat King has been denied bail. I am happy that his recent friend who offered to up $ 50K will not now lose that money
I am too, but that $50K wouldn't necessarily have been lost. It is simply a surety (like a guarantee) that he would show up for subsequent court proceedings. If he shows up, then when the matter is decided, the $50K will be refunded to the guarantor.

Canada is really hard core. I can understand that they are upset with what happened, but to deny bail for what is essentially a non violent crime when he wasn't convicted? I find that surprising.
