Cheer? More like intimidate/scare the kids inside the schools.
.
Apperently something like that happened yesterday at a school in the Elmwood area. Angry parents screaming at the teachers and kids to remove masks. Scaring the poor kids.

I really really reallly hope I don't encounter that at my daughters school. I am not in the mood.

No. I was there in Montreal when it happened and it is NOT the same. The atmosphere in 1970 was tense but people continued to go about their business as usual.

There are some commonalities (uncertainty, the tension and sense of crisis) but it was a completely different situation.

France, year 1992: Protesters used trucks to block roads. 12 tanks and 13,000 police moved one truck, the rest decided to move on their own afterwards.

These are all historical legacies. Not something that someone put there last week.

Trust me, people aren't thinking about Jesus Christ when they are marching down the street with a Quebec flag or any variant of it.

Sorry to be this blunt, but I am a native French speaker living in Quebec.

You're gonna school me on Quebec society and politics?
Oh, please. I was talking about the Christian cross clearly visible on it, not the symmetric white cross. Nobody in their right mind would see that flag as anything other than a Christian flag.
