Canada can do as she pleases, but there is not a gun problem in the US. There is a drug problem and a gang problem, and a crime problem, and a problem that is caused by not punishing criminals or helping those with mental issues. Guns are not the problem.
It's not like the US has any more mass murders than Canada does, so I am not seeing where Canada has any basis for being self-righteous about the issue.
The most recent shooting rampage in Canada was committed by Gabriel Wortman in Nova Scotia in 2020 when he shot and killed 22 people before being killed by the RCMP. There was also the Ecole Polytechnique shooting in Montreal back in 1989 by a misogynist. 14 people lost their lives in that shooting. Canada is not immune to gun violence but by and large I'd say the US has many more times the number of mass shootings not to mention the plenitude of illegal firearms, some of which do get smuggled across the border.

So lets see.... 2020 - 1989, 31 years between mass shootings. Yep Canada is as bad as USA.
There was a study tracing illegal guns used in crimes in Canada, and the vast majority of them were smuggled up from the US. The most porous border in the world which makes it almost impossible to stop the flow. Maybe it's time to build a wall

The USA also has the highest prison population per capita and in #'s wise in the world. Lets not pretend like people run around here with impunity.
And what is their reason for choosing weapons such as AR-15?
AR-15s are easy to learn how to shoot. They are accurate, light, and don't produce a lot of recoil, making the gun perfect for everyone. These are just some of the reasons why it is the most popular rifle used in shooting sports. Furthermore, the AR 15 rifle replaced nearly every other carbine or rifle used by law enforcement because it is so effective in various applications.

It would be hard to build one on the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence River. On the other hand, I wonder if the Mohawks of the Akwasasne/St.Regis reserve who's on the border will allow a wall crossing their reserve? I saw a old article from 2010 then the National Post once referred Akwasasne as the contraband capital. https://nationalpost.com/health/cont...it-police-say/
Is it easier to commit someone to a mental institution in Canada, especially if that person is violent or has violent fantasies?
