Being a superpower in today's world isn't just about population and land, because we're no longer nations of pre-industrial subsistence farmers. Even during that era, Canada wasn't a superpower because the most of that abundant space is not arable farm land, and that land that is that way has a short growing season. Being a superpower in today's world is much more about human capital and physical infrastructure. Alot of the centres of growth today are in cities where new industries are emerging. There's no point in becoming a superpower if in doing so we sacrifice our current quality of life. We can only expand our infrastructure and economy so quickly. If we let in 30 million people tomorrow we wouldn't be able to integrate them culturally, there wouldn't be jobs for them, we wouldn't have enough schools to educate their children, there wouldn't be enough housing to house them, and there wouldn't be enough physical infrastructure like public transit lines and sewer mains etc. Demographic growth has to happen slowly enough so that we can accommodate it and harness it properly.
being a super power so we end up meddling in other people's affairs? no thanks.

Canada should keep receiving immigrants but in a sustainable and responsible manner. You have to consider how many current economy can handle.
In the end it should have no problem in having 100 million people. In our life time maybe 50 million. And that's only the same population of tiny South Korea, which has basically no resources to speak of.

I don't think Canada would need to open up its immigration policies to be a superpower. In some ways Canada already has the influence of a global superpower anyway and the nation has a good reputation, being held in very high respect and good regards by the majority of other nations around the world.

Nope. If you ever become more powerful, then you'll be seen as a threat to the US. Then the American government will do anything to bring you down. Also, we have the most powerful military in the world, and we're your biggest trading partner, so it won't end well.
Not saying I condone any of those actions, but that's probably what would happen.
So some wizard waves a wand and we become a superpower......what then?
