Chevy; admission here - the name was familiar but I could not recall from where. Google is my fried bacon moment later and yep; https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toron...t-86-1.5940094

Would that be the guy???

I have snippet memories of him on CHUM before he developed his signature persona, or at least while he was perfecting it.

I can also recall him on CityTV's CityPulse show.

Can't say I listened to him regularly though.

That's the guy, Bru.

One of the things I remember is how many editorials of his started with, "You know what's really p***ing me off? Those clowns at _____," where the blank was often "City Hall," or "Queen's Park," or "Ottawa"; though it wasn't always. And then he'd go into a full-blown three-minute rant.

A local friend out here grew up in southern Ontario too, and knows of Dick Smyth; and every now and then, he will go off on a rant about something, usually current events or sports. I let him go on for a bit before calmly asking, "Having a Dick Smyth moment, are we?" He usually laughs at that.

US internet service company blocks controversial online forum citing 'imminent threats to human life'
Quote:
Cloudflare, a major American internet services company, pulled its support for Kiwi Farms, a controversial online message board, Saturday evening citing "imminent threats to human life." The move temporarily forced Kiwi Farms offline. Cloudflare's decision came as Kiwi Farms was linked to a campaign of harassment and violent threats targeting Clara Sorrenti, a Canadian trans woman who is a streamer on Twitch, a platform popular among video gamers?
Quote:
Fearing for her safety after her personal details were posted online, Sorrenti said she left her home in Canada in recent weeks and traveled to Belfast, Northern Ireland, to stay with a friend. However, she says, the online harassers were able to track her down there.
Quote:
By Sunday morning, Kiwi Farms was mostly back up online, finding another service provider to keep it on the web.

Hey! Maybe those few times I heard that guy left a subliminally created trend for me to "rant"? Finally; something/someone other than simple 'age related curmudgeonry' to blame my affliction upon.

There might be more to know about Clara Sorrenti, do you think it could be worth to do a new thread about that person?

No. Nothing justifies making threats to kill someone.

What is the Streisand effect? The Streisand effect is a name for the phenomenon in which attempts to hide, censor, or prevent access to something have the opposite result—the unintended consequence of drawing far more attention to that thing.
