I've seen bits and pieces concerning this on youtube and other media. How do Canadians feel about it? Thank you for any comments.

With the reality of this conundrum; any firearm control laws are, at best, irrelevant.

Just one Province bordering the land of unlimited firearm supply.

Canada is not alone with this particular problem:

https://www.americanprogress.org/art...d-our-borders/

With this latest kabuki theater of Trudeau addressing certain "types" through "edicts"; the problem of growing firearm violence in Canada will not even experience a blip of actual reduction. Unless they're stopped at the border, which would cause a major bottleneck to smooth unfettered trade with the U.S. - the backbone of Canada's economy, this is all just smoke and mirrors.

It's all designed to deflect from the real issues associated with firearms crimes.

As to Carey's relevance; it's minimal at best.

Here's yet another sports figure assuming import far above his actual status as a hockey player, arrogantly thinking that his appearance and utterances as a gun owner and hunter have some level of inertia above those of the people already voicing their concerns, such as the natives who depend upon hunting to a far greater extent than those of us living in Centerville and loading up the SUV with blinds, shotguns and thermos's full of Coffee laced with Disarrano to head off to the Luther Marsh for a day of duck hunting with our buds.

His act of public grandstanding during a time frame incidental to the anniversary of the Montreal massacre of 14 women was, to put it in perspective - "unfortunate" and ill thought out but, not necessarily the unforgivable crime against their memory it's been portrayed. Piling on Carey was simply an easy emotional soapbox to climb upon for all and sundry using high "C" as their preferred range of vocal admonitions.

Forgive the boob his faux-pas and get back to discussing the merits of these stupid 'edicts from on high' that will accomplish little by way of preventing those who desire to use a firearm to inflict harm upon others.

Who has forgotten the Firearm Long Gun Registration fiasco that most LEO agencies agreed was fruitless? Who has forgotten the knee jerk decision to break into flood ravaged homes, that were for all intents and purposes already secure, to collect firearms in a frenzy of cops getting to burgle private homes only to have all those firearms returned later with the realization made very apparent they presented no actual danger other than imagined by fear mongers and power trippers. What did we end up with that time; guns returned to their lawful owners and taxpayers footing the bill to repair the front doors of homes burgled by cops.

Just using the last bunch of firearm related incidents in the Big Smoke would show NONE of those rifles, shotguns, or any others of those recently depicted as evil entities by Fed Gov., as being used to commit those crimes.

This nonsense over the design, appearance and function of certain firearms, describing ever widening circles, like a stone thrown into a pond causing expanding ripples, will at some point be realized as a fool's errand of chasing your tail while the firearms credited with being used in well over 90% of crimes committed are NOT those firearms being targeted by Mr. Neon Socks in his attempt to appease and address the superficial concerns..
