Nah, the shield has nothing to do with it.

The problem is that the vast majority of the Ontario population wants to live on the shores of the great lakes and especially the southern GL's.

The greenbelt halts the urban sprawl... another political hot button topic. Just ask mister Ford and his besties

Well the greater Vancouver and greater Toronto the GTA area because of the green belts they cannot sprawl out.

Not sure about London or Waterloo and Kitchener if there are any green belts close to those cities limiting sprawl?
