This is who the anti-LGBT crowd is cheering on? Just fundamentally un-Canadian. I’m tired of these Trump style politics being imported here. Ukraine is our ally and the federal conservatives just blocked a trade deal that would help them. There should be outrage but instead were arguing about whether doctors should be allowed to continue prescribing their trans minor patients gender affirming care.

I am glad PDW admits that this is all ideological for him as it is for most people on his side. I personally am not a supporter of tucker carlson or russia. He is making this about something its not. And this fanaticism is precisely why the left will continue to lose support. Russia and tucker carlson have nothing to do with gender affirming care.

Also, she's in provincial politics, so foreign policy issues are largely irrelevant.

Sadly, Pollievre is backing her 100% it seems. AFAIK every conservative MP voted against the Ukraine trade deal. Good thing it still passed. Whether people want to admit it or not, the spread of right populism has infiltrated our politics here. O’Toole and Scheer weren’t like this, but Pollievre is firmly in that camp. I really wish the Joe Clark style of red Tories would return.

I just don’t understand how others don’t see the complete nonsense he spews. For example - Poilievre on Twitter 3 days ago:

Trudeau’s radical Environment Minister’s decision to end road building is part of a plan to deindustrialize and make us reliant on foreign dictatorships to sell us the things our government bans us from making at home.
Huh?

His language is very slogany and not focused on policy or even specific facts and statistics. He doesn’t want to make policy promises to regular citizens, because time and time again we’ve seen the new brand of Tories doesn’t want to deliver on issues that will help regular working families.
The biggest divide in our country (and probably around the world politically) is urban/rural. The vast majority of voters live in urban areas nowadays and these are where the liberals do well, and to a lesser extent the NDP. Rural voters are almost 100% conservative with the exception of Northern areas with big native populations, and Quebec (Bloc) and the maritimes where it’s more complicated. Rural Canada is neglected politically . Gun control initiatives are supported in the cities, but rural areas including NDP strongholds have had enough. We’re not the US. Things like diversity intiatives, etc also don’t resonate as much because besides natives rural Canada is overwhelmingly white Christian.
The conservatives have no interest in delivering on policy, so they just keep hammering these culture war issues while they make plans to privatize what’s left of the good federally subsidized sectors in this country, cut corporate taxes and call it a day. The whole message is “Trudeau is bad” without them offering a single example of how they would do things better. The truth is though the liberals have delivered on things like dental care, daycare access and expanding pharmaceutical access because of pressure from the NDP. Trudeau’s government has failed miserably on housing but they’re finally taking some big initiatives which will likely be cancelled if the conservatives win, with tax cuts to and regulation clawbacks for developers being the only replacement. These help all Canadians. Sadly, the “Trudeau is bad” message gets more clicks on social media and that seems to be enough to give the conservatives the huge landslide they have in the polls right now. Hopefully come election time voters will have higher expectations for an actual platform before they vote this clown show into power.

Slogany? His unsubstantiated ridiculous claims make him sound like he belongs locked up in a psych ward somewhere.

Poilievre backs banning trans women from women's sports, change rooms and bathrooms

I am pretty sure even Herr Adolf Hitler never contemplated such a ban.
