Not in a church or hockey game, but after a train derailment.

I remember it.

I was on a bus from New York City to Toronto that night. We heard about what happened in Mississauga when one of the bus passengers called a friend in Toronto from a pay phone at a scheduled stop. She alerted the bus driver, who got in touch with the bus dispatcher. For a while, it was iffy: we could either continue on the New York Thruway (I-90) to Buffalo, and then into Canada, where we might have been held up by the Mississauga derailment; or we might have taken I-81 northbound from Syracuse, to meet up with the 401, then west into Toronto, avoiding Misissauga totally.

In the end, our driver and his dispatcher opted for the "via Mississauga" route. By the time we got there, no exits were open on the Oakville-Toronto QEW highway, but traffic was moving on the QEW between Oakville and Toronto. We got back to Toronto almost on schedule.
