My husband and I are interested in potentially relocating to Canada. Our top areas have been in Alberta and Ontario.

My husband is in the trades and I'm a graduate student in IT.

We'd seek permanent residency, but first need to find long-term employment for my husband, preferably something that would turn into a long-term career with advancement opportunities.

I can work from anywhere, but what are the best areas for finding work in the trades? My husband's background is in woodwork/millwork/manufacturing/engineering & drafting. His current range is at $60,000 USD.

Also, where are the best areas for young families?

Thanks!

Alberta. No contest..... Ontario is entering a recession and the taxes there are sky high. Schools are better in Alberta too.

I'm in Ontario and I'm in IT and you should not come here. Ajau is correct. Alberta is the place to be for jobs (still) in IT. Then either BC or SK.

Without working experience, be prepared for VOLUNTEER jobs IF any, no way to think about money! Rgrd. your husband, to make 60k in Canada .... it's a long way for that, in Ontario NO WAY, you may want to try Alberta and maybe. Don't forget they get a large number of skilled emigrants every year so the competion is huge and the wages are going down, the real estate market is always expensive in big cities like Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, etc. Good luck!

Calgary is the land of honey for canada, but winters might not be worth it. Torontos weather is much warmer in winter, and maybey better for general living.
