I'm trying to locate my godparents Steve & Denise Dorricott from Ripon, North Yorkshire, UK. Denise was a close friend of my Mum's (hence being my godmother!) and they emigrated to Canada in the 1970's although my mum isn't sure whereabouts, she thinks it was Ontario.
I'm in the process of Canadian immigration and would love to look them up.
Thanks
Sue
I know it's a small chance, but I will mention it to my mum, who emigrated to Canada in '69 from London (but whose family is based in N. Yorkshire). She is presently living in Ontario as well, so it's worth a shot!
The odds of finding someone who knows your godmother are astronomically tiny.
The province of Ontario covers 1,076,395 square kilometers which is roughly 4.5 times the size of the UK. There are approximately 12,000,000 people spread out in that area.
There are only 12 people named Dorricott in Ontario who have listed telephone information. One of these people has the first intial "D", and 2 of them have the first initial "S".
If you check your private messages, you'll find their addresses and telphone numbers.
well... i dont really know how to do my own post so i'll post something here.
I was adpoted in 1992, and i'd really like to know my birth mother.
I was born in newmarket ontario. on july 5th 1992. at 10:13pm.
if anyone recognizes this information. let me know. cause i'd really like to know who you are.
Your post likely has more to do with the People Search forum than the Canada forum, but maybe this will help.
Ontario is in the process of implementing a new Adoption Disclosure Law.
By the fall of 2007, birth parents or adoptees over the age of 18 will be able to apply to view their original adoption orders. These orders will contain original birth names.
More information can be found at the Ontario Ministry of Community and Social Services site:
