Should Eastern Canada and Western Canada split into 2 countries, because they seem to hate each other anyways. The Ontario-Manitoba border would be the border. Everything Ontario and east would be one country, and everything west of Ontario would be the other.
West = Resources, agriculture, outdoors, entrepeneurial spirit
East = Unions, NDP, Liberals, EI, and a distinct society.
Just think how great the east would be with no more Alberta and their stinky oil. Of course that means that the Maritimes don't get the $10B a year in transfers anymore because the cash cows are off on their own.

Ah there's the usual Alberta attitude....cut off the East. People that are really from the East (and by east I mean EAST and not central Canada - which is Ontario and Quebec) do not appreciate being lumped in with Quebec and Ontario.
Quebec has the distinct society
Ontario has the unions, the NDP and the Liberals
The Atlantic provinces? We have fish and friendly people!
As for EI, down here in the real East (meaning the Atlantic Provinces) , we have always had higher unemployment than the rest of Canada, so we need and welcome (and covet and totally appreciate) the hand-outs from the western provinces (thanks!!!!!)
So let's just hope you guys get back on the road to riches again after recently losing 24,000 jobs:
" The phrase "full employment" has melted away from Alberta's lexicon as 24,000 people lost their jobs in February, pushing the provincial unemployment rate up a full percentage point to 5.4 per cent, Statistics Canada reported today."
Alberta, which during the oil boom was pleading Canadians from elsewhere to move here, now has higher unemployment than Saskatchewan or Manitoba." (The Calgary Herald)
I voted no.
But in all seriousness , If Alberta wants to get away from Toronto sooo bad to become the 52nd state, I'd tell 'em cowboys where they could go with their mad cows & gloopy tar sands!

The OP had the choice of West - ending at the ON border, and East - East of that. I just followed those guidelines. I recognize that Ontario is central, sort of like your body. Navels for gazing and the butt, for spouting what butts do.

The OP also gave the choice of a split
"Yes, in a different way (put it in your own post) "
My vote would be no split all of course!
