Good luck on your decision.

This is a good information for me. We are retired and new in Canada. We want to buy a quite home but we need a good investment for the future.
A question, are you a Real Estate agent?

We are thinking of moving to Windsor. We have two kids aged 10 and 14. I would like to know which areas will be good to live. We would prefer a property by waterfront. My husband will be working in Detroit, so he will be commuting. Also, I would like to know, what are the schools like. Are their any private schools available?

Anywhere right on the waterfront (except perhaps under the Ambassador Bridge) is a nice area to live. Look at Riverside, Tecumseh, St Clair Beach (in Town of Tecumseh) Lasalle, etc. I recommend you do a driving tour of Riverside Dr. & Highway 18 with your real estate agent.

As for private schools, Ste. Cecile comes directly to mind. Academie Ste. Cecile International School
They seem to educate more than their fair share of the children of movers/shakers of Windsor. Many professors and lawyers/judges send their children there. They have an IB program and full French immersion I believe...

You do not have to living on one side of the border and working on the other to apply for a NEXUS card. Anyone can and if you cross often, it is well worth it. Just remember if you tend to have more than one person in the vehicle each one must have their own Nexus card.

There are no real bad parts of town. Crime is low across the city and Windsor has the lowest murder rate in Canada (there hasn't been a murder for over 2 years).

If you're looking to commute to Detroit every day (assuming you're taking the tunnel), you're probably best to look for an apartment in the downtown area, just south of downtown, or in the Walkerville neighbourhood.

Default Retiring to Windsor ontario

I'll be retiring to Windsor Ontario. Can anyone clue me in to where the safest neighbourhoods are. I don't drive so I'll need to be where there's good transit.

Windsor is one of the safest cities in the country, as are it's suburbs, it's a proven fact! The opioid problem is all over North America, not just here. Property crime and assaults are no higher here than other cities in the region.

Does Windsor have more of a community feel - like you can walk to things and take public transit? Also - is there any public transit or carpooling that you know of from Windsor to Detroit daily?

Thanks
there are tons of safe and nice or even upscale suburbs of detroit in the US, without the need to enter a different country repeatedly.
