This year, when it came time to plan for New Years entertainment, Quebec City was the winner. I have traveled the world and Quebec City is one of my favorite destinations so when the opportunity came up to visit again, I couldn't pass it up. Regardless of the magnitude of the celebration I know I'll enjoy the stay; but I'm looking to see if anyone knows where to go and what to do? Are there fireworks or outdoor events or are most of the parties indoors (I'd assume it's more likely this because of the cold... even Boston is really too cold to stay outside)? I try to avoid L'Astral when I'm in town in favor of seeking out the more unique places on the winding streets of the old city, but is there an event there? It seems that if there were fireworks, it would make for a wonderful vantage point.
We're staying at Auberge Saint-Antoine, so anything close would be nice, but we don't mind a little distance for a good party. My first visit to Quebec City inspired me to start learning French so I can't wait to practice what I know so far (admittedly, not much... but better than one year ago).
Anyway, I appreciate any suggestions or advice. I'm not concerned that we'll be bored, but I'm hoping for some inside perspective. Thanks!
