Hello Everyone,
My Mom is undergoing Chemo now for Lung Cancer and about a week after her first round her feet and ankles have swollen like crazy.
She was in the hospital for week for this and all the doctors can only "assume" it's because of the Chemotherapy but they can't say for sure.
She had a Cardiovascular exam last year (full work up) and she is fine on that front.
Has anybody ever dealt or heard of this type of reaction to Chemo?
Thank you all in advance for your responses and Prayers to all who are suffering from this horrid disease.

Many of the chemo treatments can cause that, especially cisplatin which is one that I was getting, along with others. For me it was only a problem when I was hospitalized with infections caused by the lack of immunity from the chemo killing white blood cells (5 times). Whenever I got chemo, I first had complete bloodwork then a visit with my Oncologist, who checked for ankle swelling. I have been free of it since May 2020, to your Mom best wishes for fast success.

I had the same experience with Cisplatin, swelling of the feet and ankles while in treatment, I also had weekly blood tests. The swelling would go down in between my weekly infusions and went away when I completed treatment.
The very best to both you and your Mother.

My dealing with Cisplatin was more a loss of vision and dizziness. Mine cleared up post chemo.
Sadly yesterday my Mother's journey in Life and her battle with Lung Cancer ended.
After 2 Months of Chemo she couldn't take it anymore and resorted to Immune therapies and that didn't help much either.
So she stopped all treatments and just let nature take it course and she passed yesterday around Noon.
She lasted a lot longer than the doctors had predicted but I wasn't surprised because she has always been a fighter and a wonderful Mother.
Thanks to all here who responded with prayers & answers to my questions at the time.
Blessings to those who battle with this disease.
So sorry for your loss. I lost my mother to lung cancer too - just about the same time frame. She was diagnosed in Jan 2001 and died August 6 2001. I miss her every day.
So sorry for both of you, the death of a parent is traumatic no matter your age. Be sure to take good care of yourselves!!
