There is never any question about insurance paying for my annual breast MRI, because of my cancer history. However, we have a very high deductible insurance plan, and most years we don't come close to meeting it, so in that case I request the cash price.

I had my last MRI in December and the cash price was $650, plus the radiologist sends a separate bill (about $125). That's a bit high, but the imaging center I go to is associated with a hospital so there are some extra fees. $350 sounds like a great deal, though you might want to check about that radiologist's fee.

That last MRI if billed through insurance would have been $2500, so I'm not complaining.

That's actually pretty awesome. Is that with contrast dye? My bi-annual MRI cost me $1600 last year (my new deductible is $3500). I actually decided not to continue getting one as my oncologist felt that the 3D mammogram was sufficient. But now I'm wondering about this cash price. I had BC in 2013 and have one dense breast remaining.

Yes, I did have contrast. If you feel the need to have an MRI (and I understand that!), it's worth asking, or asking around, to see what an imaging center can do for you as a cash customer.

I get one every other year so this is my "off year" but you've given me something to think about and I may call around next year. Thanks.
