If you will need a surgeon. Not only Dr. Berger in San Francisco, but also Dr. Keith Black, in Los Angeles. Here is a website about him. He is definitely up there on the top of our list also.

Can't you go to Canada or even Europe? If she indeed has a brain tumor they will place her on treatment the very same day.

I guess you're having trouble with your insurance...

Brain tumors are often no reason to panic. Many highly qualified neurosurgeons take a "wait and see" approach to treating them. I was treated at Barrow Neurological in Phoenix, AZ last year for a 2cm benign brain tumor. The dizziness and falling could be resulting from a tumor putting pressure on a sinus. But 4-5 mm is very small. I know that tumors sound scary and many are, especially the malignant ones. But there are also lots of people like me who had the tumor removed and returned to life within 6 weeks with no side effects except a big scar on the top of my head. There are other options to surgery that include using a single dose of radiation to shrink the tumor called GAMMA Knife. I know it is scary but hang in there and keep researching. I'd highly recommend Barrow Neurological to anyone seeking the advice of a neurosurgeon or neurologist.

Check out Dr Burzynski's Anti-neoplatin therapy in Houston, TX. He has an 85% success rate with brain tumor patients. Dr Stanislaw Burzynski -- Antineoplaston Therapy -- Articles, patents He has been doing it for I think 40 years now and even survived the barrage of attempts the FDA and the medical establishment made to shut him down. Now even health insurance will cover his treatment ---but of course only AFTER you have tried the conventional treatments that we know don't work and will leave you weaker and sicker than you can imagine. I certainly would seek out an experienced Naturopathic Doctor to guide you through. You might even find a Homeopath who could pick out just the right remedy for you and get rid of in completely in a few months. Don't let the medical doctors scare you into invasive surgery or radiation or chemotherapy without trying gentler and often much more effective treatments first. Seek out experienced alternative practitioners first.

I would completely ignore this fairy tale above and seek out the advice of a qualifed Neurosurgeon.

Don't give up, there is a surgeon out there that will see your mother. Be persistent this isn't the time to resort to the kind of quackery referenced above.

Again there is place for alternative medicine, but the bandwagon approach you take is a disservice to cancer patients. No matter what treatment one seeks research it... It is ok to seek a second opinion. However your advertising of alternative treatments is more dangerous than not doing anything.

How can she go to Canada? My MIL was in Toronto and had a mini-stroke while up there. They treated her, but my wife and her sisters ended up with several thousand dollars in medical bills to pay and this was back in the mid 90's. I recently called a Victoria BC hospital to inquire about how much a hospital stay would cost without insurance and they quoted me a price that was comparable with the USA--and you'd better have a CC handy because there is no Supreme Court decision mandating that a Canadian hospital has to treat an emergency walk-in (or crawl-in) if that person is a foreigner.
