I have basal cell on my nose next to my eye and need surgery. I like what I hear/researched about Mohs. I live in NH and am going nuts. Two Mohs surgeons have been recommended to me - Dr. Grande in Medford/Stoneham, MA and Dr. Frank in Nashua, NH. Has anyone had personal experience with either of these docs? Both have good "online" credentials. I'm in unchartered waters here. Posted a thread on the MA and NH forum but got no response. Would appreciate anyone's opinions on either of these docs or an in general question to "what criteria made you select THE surgeon who's going to perform a procedure on you?"

Dr. Frank is very good. I had basal cell skin cancer taken off my upper nose 2 years ago. It was very close to my eye, but he was very careful and the resulting scar is minimal. MOHS surgery is the way to go, but allow yourself about 5 days for recovery due to swelling and bruising. My regular dermatologist recommended him. Good luck! -Sue in Weare, NH

Thanks, Sue! I have a consultation with Dr. Christine Kannler in Nashua this week - she's certified in Mohs surgery - don't know if you've heard of her. She's affiliated with Southern NH medical center that offers financial assistance since I'll be paying for this out of my pocket - yikes! I've heard Dr. Frank is good too from others so thanks for the reply, esp about the recovery time. I didn't know about that.
