My Mom died in May after 14 years with Breast Cancer. She left behind myself and my 2 brothers. She was a single parent and we're all pretty lost now. Life pretty much sucks at the moment, that's how Cancer has changed my life, used to be cool, now it sucks. I miss her and her smile and her awesome Chili she used to make for us on cold winter days. This winter is going to be cold through and through.

I agree with you Steve. I had an acquaintance who was a nurse and said that NO way would she ever have surgery. If they leave just ONE CELL your body goes into overdrive to HEAL the INCISION and damage done by the surgery. That action causes the cells in damaged area to grow exponentially - INCLUDING THE CANCER CELLS if every single one of them have not been cut out. It makes sense to me.

My heart breaks for all the people here who have had these battles. I have no faith in medicine, sorry. They are just guessing and hoping themselves. They don't KNOW anything. I would rather build my immune system, detox-detox-detox and change my lifestyle. It works, but doctors will never admit that. Cancer is a multi-billion dollar industry in this country.

Believe it or not, Joey, cancer is a very common and normal condition. We all have cancer cells in our body. All of us have had them since we were born. When the body and immune system is working as it should these cancer cells are destroyed. It is only when things are not working properly that the cancer cells take hold and begin to grow. Even then the body is capable of taking care of the problem if the immune system remains strong and the body is brought back into stasis.

My heart goes out to you ...your Mom was a very brave woman now you must try to be brave also... remember the good times you spent with her. Write all the things you remember and how you feel about her in a diary it will help to ease the pain. My thoughts are with you and your brothers.

I am so sorry for your loss. I lost someone very close to me about a year ago to "the big C" as well. My best wishes to you and your brothers. I know this is easy to say and incredibly hard to do, but give yourselves time and try to be glad for the fact that you had such a wonderful person in your life in the first place; it's more than some can say. Day at a time and all that.

Sorry but unless I'm misunderstanding what you're saying, this is utter gibberish. You're saying never have surgery for cancer? That is horrifically bad and irresponsible advice.

OK, this is not only irresponsible, but so idiotic a child could see through it. Doctors and "medicine" aren't by any means perfect and can't offer guarantees, but they know a great deal. MANY patients have been saved through what you appear to consider evil, money-grubbing schemes like surgery, radiation, and/or chemotherary. Are you Suzamme Somers posting incognito here?

Yeah. Sure it does. Have cancer? Ignore ideas like surgery, radiation, or chemo. Just "detox" and "change your lifestyle."

Good luck w/that.

Hi Joey2000.

I was diagnosed with uterine LMS in early 2006 aged 34. I was very lucky - the tumour was there for over 2 years because my Dr said it was just a fibroid and therefore nothing to worry about. It was only removed because of the continued growth and discomfort from it pressing on other organs. Six weeks after removal when I went for my post op check up they said "cancer but don't worry we got it all, very unlikely it will come back". Well it did, exactly one year later. That's when I had a hysterectomy.

Like I said I was fortunate - it was low grade and despite the general aggresiveness of LMS there had been no spread. All I had was surgery, no ratiation and no chemo. Today there are no signs of return and I'm doing well (but I know I'm one of the lucky ones).

I'm sure you'll have done your research and looked at all the websites...LMS generally has a poor outcome but just remember all cases are individual. Plus, as most of the websites will tell you make sure your GF is seen by a Sarcoma Specialist - the fact that a specialist is someone who sees at least 100 patients a year shows you how rare sarcoma is let along the different types of sarcoma.

Best wishes to you an your GF.

Many thanks! She is great about researching this and in fact is being seen at MD Anderson, IMO THE place to go. Yes, you were very lucky. She has had a masectomy, radiation and chemo and is still fighting it. It's tough, but she is tougher, so we are optimistic about a good outcome. Thx again!
