As some of you may know, I recently had my 2006 Hyundai stall out in the middle of an intersection, I was able to coast into a parking lot, and I used the towing on my full coverage insurance to get it to a repair shop, once they told me it needed an engine and at that point, the car was junk, so I used the towing service again and had it towed to my house (which is only half a mile away from the shop)...
I get a 'friendly reminder' from them in the mail today, they were basically telling me, Ive used the towing service too much!!! 2 times is too much?
What was funny, they had the time Ive used the towing service, going back like 6 years, compiled on another page and it showed these 2 times but the time before this, was way back in 2013 and that was only once.
I have had ZERO accidents and ZERO tickets, pay my premium on time EVERY time and they still send me a warning letter? LOL
I agree with the above post. Insurance of any kind should usually be used as a last resort only. Unless you are making a large claim of a few thousand dollars, it's almost always cheaper in the long run to pay for it yourself vs. making a claim.
With that being said, I don't have "roadside assistance" on my policy, so I don't know how that works completely. I just know that I've been taught to avoid making claims unless absolutely necessary, and that has seemed to work well for me over the years.

I wouldn't call that "the nerve of my insurance agent" since it's company policy. The agent has nothing to do with that, other than to inform you that you have exceeded their limit.
Huh? My road side assistance is a meager 2$ extra per month on my insurance policy. Are you saying they use that towing as a claim? No where in my policy does it state that.
Op ,mine is set up that I can use up to 25 miles in towing per month. Not alot when you consider it as a round trip from where they begin to where they return.
I do think you choosing to tow it back to your home At no cost is abusing the towing system. It's normally set in the terms ..to the nearest shop. Not to your nearest home.
Next you'll tell em to drop it off at uncle neds scrap shop.

Any usage of your policy is a claim.
