Until somebody does.

I was with Pekin for 8 years. Nobody could beat their rates. Then they had a tremendous rate increase and several companies had much better rates.

Has anyone ever heard/had of Badger Mutual Insurance? Got a quote from them through my broker, I googled them but not many results.

Like many US insurance companies, Badger Mutual has been around for over 100 years, founded 1887. It has an AM Best financial rating of A-, good but not excellent, mainly because of the same type of losses experienced by the insurance industry in the past couple of years. Even State Farm ran at a loss the last couple of years.

I wouldn't be too concerned. If they save you money, go for it.

Thanks a lot for that, that's very helpful. Yeah Badger got the lowest rate with good coverage, only thing is their auto's deductible (other than collision) is $500 for the lowest, much higher than other quotes I got. Other than that their quotes are pretty good.

Badger won't be covering personal line's insurance after June, I am going to sign up before that so I won't get affected. But since they won't be doing personal policies in my state NV, will it affect my policies later or anything? shouldn't right?

How did you find out about the info with Badger? I would love to look up Stillwater and a couple other companies my broker quoted me. (Also my first time using a broker)

I can only dream about the rates some of you are paying.

DW and I, 2 cars, no tickets, no accidents, over 800 FICO, 2 of the most boring cars on earth. 57 and 59 yo.

Almost $7,000/year. South Florida.

$500 deductible is standard. I haven't had any company quote lower deductibles in many years.

I don't see anything online about it. Are they pulling out of NV completely, just discontinuing auto and HO, temporarily or permanently?

They may have to non-renew policies at some point if they are pulling out of the state.

Find out more about it.

AM Best is the go-to place for insurance company financial ratings.

https://web.ambest.com/home

You can also google the name of any insurance company and include the word "review" or "complaint." Your insurance department also has records of complaints by year.

What other companies have you gotten quotes from? My own HO and auto is coming up next month. I see that Badger writes in AZ so I'll be checking them, too.

I would be doing some serious shopping for your next renewal.

Get as many quotes as you can from independent agents, direct writers with local offices, and direct writers online.

Absolutely. Unfortunately, it's a never ending cycle (should I say scam?) I might be able to lower my rates by maybe $500/year but come 6 month renewal time and now I'm paying $7,500/year. I've changed insurance companies 4 times in an effort to reduce my premiums. I've come to the realization, this is Florida and there isn't a dam* thing I can do about it. I know that if I stayed in this state another 10 years, I'll be paying $10 - $15k/year. It's a sad truth and it's unavoidable. I'm quite certain that had I stayed with the same insurance company I had 22 years ago, (USAA) I'd be paying somewhere around $20k/year. Sounds over dramatized? Well in the 10 years I was with them they more than quadrupled my insurance premiums.
