This is all new to me, so please forgive the ignorance.

Wife with dementia is developing pressure sores. Alternating pressure pad with pump delivered today. The instructions are terrible, even square 1.

So here goes ..... Should the pump be run continuously while the patient is on the pad, or is the pump used merely to inflate the pad, and then shut off when inflated??

The pump will cycle every five minutes, inflating and deflating the two air chambers.

Manufacturer is "Drive" Med Aire. You seem to be implying that the pump stays on while the person's on it. Thanx.

When dad had one, yes - it ran all the time to maintain cycle pressure. It was fairly loud unfortunately - but better than the alternative (more sores).
