this is exactly why the elderly in my family are NEVER left alone with assistants , whether nurses, caretakers, house keeper, whatever.

this is hard to watch. do NOT watch it as it may ruin your day. basically, an elderly man is repeatedly punched in the head.

This should become a national news item, because it is a hate crime, and also because it should serve as a warning that in some aspects of health care, employees aren't necessarily angelic souls.

This will fade into obscurity, though.

Agree with you, it is a shame and a disgrace how the elderly are treated in nursing homes being "cared for" by sociopaths. Some of these so-called aides literally did just come out of jail or will be heading to one as soon as they are caught.

Although it would impinge on the residents' privacy, I personally feel there should be a camera in each room. Families should have a nanny cam set up so they can personally monitor what's going on their family member.

Now with covid running rampart in many facilities, I just hope families will sue the H out of these hellholes and there's finally some reforms.

The video says that the criminal was a patient himself, not a caregiver. It's very disturbing.

The OP is fortunate to not have to leave his or her loved one alone.

The abuser was not a caregiver. I’d want to know how a patient was able to enter the elderly man’s room without detection. I think there must be much more to this story than this video shows. Terrible.

This monster was filming his assaults and uploading them to his FB page? That's the impression I got. Beyond awful.

What lawyer in their right mind can defend this? I hope he never gets out of jail.

so he was an employee then. incomprehensible that this is not headline news. At least our president has spoken out about it. That brings it more attention. This guy needs to be banned from any future care facilities. Better yet, lock him up. But then some silly governor will have him released.

one more question, why the hell are they blurring out this guy's face??? Sick society who protects barbarians such as this.

He is not an employee.

https://www.canyon-news.com/detroit-...patient/112431

"Authorities have yet to disclose the specific location and the suspect’s name. Individuals on social media were able to recognize the suspect and the location where the incident occurred. The Westwood Nursing Home, has not released a statement about the incident, where the victim, a 75-year old man is receiving treatment for injuries sustained at a local hospital.

A law firm representing Westwood Nursing Home revealed in a statement to WXYZ Detroit, that the man was also a patient and was “recently admitted for recovery and rehabilitation purposes on a temporary stay.”

According to his YouTube account, he is a boxing fan and has committed other felonies. In some of his videos, he is sparring allegedly at the Norwayne Boxing Gym."
