I utilized that service at CDG airport and saved considerable time and effort. I was connecting from a USA inbound flight to a Europe outbound flight. If you have been to CDG airport, you know how far apart and complex the terminals are. We were walking with the concierge agent who immediately realized that one of the elevators we needed was out of order and there were crowds gathering. She immediately turned and steered us to another elevator which was relatively hidden behind some counters. She then directed us to the lounge where we waited for our flight having shown us where the departure gate was and the best access route.
This only addresses the airport portions of the trip however.

That sounds wonderful. How to you find these VIP services?
When I was traveling with my mother we used our own folding wheelchair because she walked so slow.
However, it was not unusual to see those who had been pushed to the gate area in wheelchairs, standing in the baggage claim area and managing their own bags.
More than one said they did this so that they would be taken to the right gate, and helped with transfers to connecting flights.
Nice to know there is such a service that doesn't require pretending to need a wheelchair..
