Advertisements

Hi all. I know everyone had their different views of the craigslist ad and reply that was posted several days ago but today I would like to tell you of my experience of a craigslist ad.

I had been a pet owner in the past and could hardly stand it not having a pet. I had been looking up at petsmart at some of the pets. The problem is that most of them were in sets of two and littermates that I did not want to split up and I also did not want to pay the money for two that they were charging. I think it was coming up to 160.00 for two.

I was living alone and going to work and coming home everyday... I started looking at the craigslist ads at kitties.

There weren't really many and the ones that were there had no pictures.

I called the phone number and the lady had several cats and just could not handle the cost. Besides her 'own' cats she had a mommy cat with two babies left. I met her at a shopping center and she had brought both babies with her. I was hoping that she only brought the tan one I told her to bring. She asked me if I wanted the mommy cat but I could not handle three cats in the small amount of room I had.

Everytime the little tan kitty was separated from his grey sister he cried and cried. Put them back together and he was fine. I took them both and they became the Adventures of Max and Chloe. There was a thread here from when I first got them.

These poor kittens were bathed in fleas. I was glad to have gotten them from this lady because they apparently needed a better home. Little Maxie was a mommas boy and sat on my lap all the time. He was smaller than Chloe and she tended to pic on him quite a bit. I got them the second week of December last year and they have grown up so much! Now Maxie is bigger than Chloe and he is such a sweet boy. Chloe is sweet herself, both pretty kitties.

I am so glad to have had the opportunity to give these kitties the loving home they deserved, thank you Craigslist.

Thank you for NOT buying a pet from a pet store. Regardless of the lies they tell, their pet stock comes from puppy mills, free kittens or BYB.
NEVER buy animals from a pet store.

Max and Chloe...oh jeez they are sooo cute!! Craigslist did you a good thing and got you 2 free kittens. I don't think I could take one without the other either. The last time I adopted a kitten, we told the shelter that if no one adopted the other one we would take him...thankfully someone did. Thanks for saving them both!

If her petsmart is like mine, their cats are from local rescue groups.

Yep, I adopted Gracie at a local Petsmart, but she came from E-Rescue Houston.

Max and Chloe are gorgeous!

I remember your original thread, Pik - Max and Chloe are cute as buttons! ahhh! I love that very first pic. Such big eyes, such wobbly little legs. Such a big world out there

This is a story where a Craigslist add had such an extremely happy ending. - or beginning, I should say!

Yes, but then you're not buying them from the pet store, you're rescuing them, which is a profound difference.

Our local pet store also has adoption days and both cats and dogs are from area rescue groups. As far as I know, the store donates their space and does not profit from adoption fees.

They're both so grown up now! Love the photo of Chloe (that's Chloe, right?) on the john.

Thank you so much, your cats are adorable!

It is refreshing to know while some will give away their pets as they please, others will do the right thing and go all the way to save them.

You did a wonderful thing, which will be rewarded everyday by the true love and affection only a pet lover can understand.
